Staff Accountant

Maggie is a Staff Accountant at Kern & Thompson, LLC and primarily provides auditing, accounting, and tax filing services to our nonprofit clients.

Prior to joining our firm, Maggie spent eight years working for nonprofits. Most recently, she was the Executive Director at a local nonprofit organization where adults with intellectual disabilities share home and build community. Maggie gained invaluable experience in nonprofit operations, fiscal management, fundraising, and strategic development in the roles of Business Manager, Director of Operations, and Executive Director.  Her love of financial statements and audit season have propelled her to expand her career into accounting.

Maggie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Portland State University. Prior to her career in accounting and the nonprofit sector, Maggie worked in the restaurant industry, in Portland and beyond, delivering enthusiastic customer service for over 15 years.  

In her free time, Maggie enjoys finding treasures in local thrift shops and estate sales, eating delicious food, live music, and long walks with her dog and partner.
